Outdoor activities farther from Boise: Rafting the Salmon River

The Salmon River is also referred to as “The River of No Return.” It flows 425 miles through central Idaho. The Salmon River is loaded with giant roller coaster rapids, deep greens pools of slow-moving water perfect for swimming, lined with white sand beaches to make for the perfect exhilarating outing for you and your family!

Main Salmon– ½ day, full day or multi-day rafting trip. April- October are the most popular months to raft this section. Class III difficulty. 82 miles. Permit info for multi day trips found at fs.usda.gov

Middle Fork– “The Middle Fork” is typically a multi-day trip. It runs 75-100 miles, depending on where you put in. Indian Creek or Boundary Creek are the most popular put in areas and you take out at Cache Bar. Before you go, you must get a permit through a competitive lottery that occurs each January. fs.usda.gov

Lower Salmon- Multi (3-5) day trip. Or full or ½ day trips available on this section of the Salmon River.
